It is my honor to receive such a great award for this year's contest. I am very happy and excited. This work was originated from my re-discovery of Japanese beauty--when I was playing Hanafuda cards with my family, I found how elegant each card was designed, and how wonderfully the Japanese beauty of ka-cho-fu-getsu (flowers, birds, winds and the Moon) was captured in the set. I repeatedly arranged each classic motif of the twelve months, which is usually never drawn mixed, in my own unique, trial-and-error style. I had much fun working on it.
During a time when things are becoming more and more "digital," new things and people come and go one after another, and there is a scent of uneasiness in the air, receiving such an award was a great encouragement for me. I would like to continue taking full advantages of personal computers as a tool of expression. Thank you very much. |
