I am grateful and excited that another work of mine has been selected as one of the Honorable Mention Award, after receiving the excellence award last year. This time, I came up with a piece that is totally different in its style from last year's. However, in creating them both, I regarded the concepts as most important. I would like to stick to this attitude in the following years to come. What this picture means can be described in the following way, for instance. "Let's say a waste incinerator is about to be built somewhere near your residence. Of course you don't like that idea; actually, you want it to be located somewhere else. However, people residing 'somewhere else' must be feeling the same way about it, too. If you, or anyone else, do not want the incinerator nearby, the choice left is that each individual should be prepared for producing less amount of wastes, and promoting recycling. It is impossible to protect the nature, without yourself acting at all, in this civilized society." Such an idea is expressed in my work, with images of hands (humans) trying to protect poppies (nature), being supported by the frame of a globe (the Earth).
