Thank you very much for the recognition given to my work this year.
In my elementary school days, I held an image of the world in 2001, which I represented in this piece of my work. Things such as roads, which look like transparent tubes, buildings resembling sweet dumplings on skewers, robot maids helping us out... those are the popular images of the future I held in my childhood, when I longed to see such an era come in reality.
Now that we finally started living in the 21st Century, so many new technologies are being created one after another; such as one for information and communication, which we never even imagined would be possible back then. It is strange that the future images we thought we would see someday, almost seem to have already become those of the past. I wanted to express these feelings of mine, so I decided to illustrate a nostalgic image on this piece. Our world, I wonder, may become something like this one, in the near future. |
