| Q1 |
When and how did you start using your PC? |
|
|
My Dad taught me how to play chess on my computer when I was
three. My dad knows a lot about computers and it seems I have
some of his genes.
|
| Q2 |
How long are you enjoying computer graphics and
why did you start computer graphics? |
|
For a couple of years I have done graphics on Microsoft
PowerPoint and publisher but only in the last year (when I started
fifth grade) did my teacher show me paint programs and it was then
that I started learning about digital artwork. |
| Q3 |
Did you like painting before you got involved in
computer graphics? |
|
I have loved painting for many years. I usually use
acrylics and oils on canvas and sometimes water colors. I have had
some private showings of my artwork. |
| Q4 |
How did you learn about DCA and why
did you enter this year? |
|
My teacher, Dr. Grossman was allowing me to experiment freely
with digital artwork and really liked my piece "faces of color".
He had discovered your contest and suggested I enter my piece
this year.
|
| Q5 |
What did you parents, teachers, and
friends say about receiving the award? |
|
The buttons popped off my Dad's shirt
as he told everyone in the world, My Mom cried and hugged me and
my friends were impressed. |
| Q6 |
We thought colors you used in your
winning work to express things are very unique and special. How
did you get these colors? |
|
I have always been told that my sense
of color scheme in my painting is unique and impressive. When I
am painting I just let it flow and use whatever colors come to mind.
I truly have no specific strategy, I just do what makes sense to
my eyes. My favorite tools in my paint program are distorto, bolge,
and using different tools from the water section. |
| Q7 |
Why did you paint a "face" and why did you use
these colors? |
 |
|
I was experimenting and noticed that in the midst
of my artwork, there was a face. I cut a circle around the face
and duplicated it twice. Then I overlapped them and made each one
slightly different from the others. Then I made the faces clearer
but not too obvious. I was finishing my piece slightly after the
9-11 tragedy and was inspired to make the color scheme a patriotic
red, white and blue. |
| Q8 |
How do you decide what color you use
this part or that? Was there anything you feel difficult during
your painting? |
|
In Painting and any other kind of artwork
I just do what feels right and let myself go with the flow. Painting
virtually or painting in reality is easy for me and I just enjoy
it so much it never feels difficult |
| Q9 |
Is there any part or expressions you
especially like in this work? |
|
I like the mysterious feeling about my
painting and how it shows the unity of mankind. It shows how all
people are different but yet we are all still somewhat alike. |
| Q10 |
In case there were anything that you
are specially found of or enjoyed during your painting, kindly let
us know. |
|
As I said before I just really like painting. |
| Q11 |
Tell us your dream. |
 |
|
My dream is to be the best I can be in whatever I
do and I love to do many things. |
| Q12 |
To close the interview, could you give any message
to workers of the Toray Group who are not only in Japan but also
in the States and many other countries around the world? |
|
This has been a great experience to me and I thank
all the people in Toray for making it possible. My teacher, Dr.
Grossman has always believed that kids can create great works of
art. I think that this competition proves that kids can create great
artwork. |
