[Comments on the prize-winning work] |
| My artwork is a digitaly manipulated pen drawing with additional coloring through Photoshop brushes in computer. I express the city Prague in Czech republic, where I was 6 months ago for a longer time. Prague is a city of culture and my work express it through typical Czech atributes - clowns, crazy things and theatre puppets, animals like cats, mouses, birds, also a president castle guard, big clock, doors etc... It is on you, which other things you can see in the details. This structure lives as an organic matter. Everything is connected by everything. The city is not an compact matter, it is still growing and moving. |
[On receiving the award] |
At first, allow me to thank you for the award. I was really surprised and very excited when I read about it. What to say?
Well, I work as a graphic designer and animator, so fine art is very good relax for me and I spend a lot of my free time doing it. I feel free and I may use my imagination from start to end, there are not any barriers. When I do something similar like my artwork Prague - The city of Czech republic, it is a kind of dreaming, which is very close to surrealistic automatism. My mind, hand and all the tools from pencil to computer follows the basic idea, all pictures are moving in my head first and the realisation is very spontaneus. The real situations and real life are only a starting point for me and I try to go further and deeper to relations of things, people, situations, souls and so on. I retouch, color and manipulate many of my artworks digitally, because that way allows me to do many variations and many changes till I am not satisfied with the result.
When I did the artwork which I entered in DCA, I was full of impressions and experiences from this wonderfull city. I was there for a longer time, alone, without my friends from home, but Prague with its atmosphere and people became my big friend. And I hope, you could feel it from my work, too.
Thank you once again and I wish you all the best. |
