[Comments on the prize-winning work] |
| Since the epoch of myths, Japanese people have been scared of something mysterious and spiritual. As a means of protecting themselves, they created eight millions gods and goddesses, and pray to them for salvation. "The prayers of heart," or cries of Japanese people's souls, are made by gathering and burning a variety of desires felt in their daily lives, all at one time. I think that Kagura Mai Dance is filled with such prayers. |
[On receiving the award] |
| I am very much honored to have received the award for my artwork. Thank you very much to everyone concerned. In this CG work, I tried to express mysterious feelings and amazement toward something awesome that is running in the depth of the Japanese people's hearts. Digital art is not something "special," but it is an attractive world, which develops the possibility of art expression that we can relate to, and gives our life renewed plentitude and joy. I am very grateful to Toray for giving us such a great place to present digital art. |
