[Comments on the prize-winning work] |
| I visited Turkey the other day. While traveling through ruins from ante-Christum, I couldn't help but feeling close to the hearts of people who went through all their fortunes for thousands of years. I thought, it may be when one's thoughts quiet down, that he can now see the very basic starting point of his heart, as an individual. Such an image is what I tried to express by creating this work. |
[On receiving the award] |
| I was thrilled at the news of receiving this award. I love putting a variety of images I absorb from places I visit into forms. This activity, to me, is like diary-keeping, rather than ART. There are actually so many images that I cannot feature all of them on my own homepage, and the hard disk of my computer is filled with them. That is why, I am very thankful for such an opportunity to present my work. This work is my attempt to put what I felt when going though the ruins in Turkey-- the eternal time-- into a form. The Earth has never been free from conflicts and warfare; however, as I look upon it, it occurred to me, that the history of human beings can be found amongst the still of eternality. |
