[An aerial park] Kagari Ooba
Subject:Traveling Heart

[Comments on the prize-winning work]
This work depicts one of the places that I would love to, but I actually cannot, visit. I think one of the advantages of CG is that with it, it is relatively easy for me to create an image I have within my mind. The visional image which appears to be a snap shot taken on my journey, is what I would like to continue creating.

[On receiving the award]
I love taking and looking at photographs. I started working on this artwork as I was inspired by some of the photographs I kept taking. Images that used to be only visional (fictional) imagination within my mind, can now be given actual forms; like this particular work, it is now possible, by freely combining memories from the past, such as photos, to complete a work which may be an unseen scenery. These are what I feel as good advantages of digital. More importantly, however, what I always realize is that, in order to keep feeding "reality with the sense of air" into my artwork, I need to put myself through various experiences above all.

Thank you very much for selecting my work for the DCA. I am grateful to all the Screening Committee Members, as well as those concerned at Toray, Inc.
