| About the work |
| Inspired by the Japanese folk tale that opening each drawer shows miniatured four seasons. These are my desire to touch untouchable matters. |

| On receiving the award |
Creating pictures is an extremely enjoyable activity, but continuing to create pictures is an endless battle against self doubt and isolation. In the transition from manual to digital work, I have continued working while searching in the dark for that which is gained and that which is lost, for what is right and what is not. In that process, an expression of approval for my work by a third party is like a ray of light in the darkness.
Receiving a significant award such as this one is a tremendous and exceptional encouragement for my future creative activities. At the same tine, I feel a strong sense of responsibility to the individuals who have recognized my work in this way, as well as to the many other artists who continue to create pictures with all their hearts, and I will continue to search for forms of expression that are right for me.
I am grateful to everyone on the Screening Committee and other persons involved with the DCA.
