About the work |
 |
| You cannot see the particles of a scent, but if you could it would look something like this. I tried to depict the scent of orchids in the air. |

On receiving the award |
 |
I would like to thank you for picking my work.
There seems to be infinite possibilities available to a person when creating a digital picture, but this in turn raises doubts in the creator's mind. To be recognized in such an area of trial and error is very encouraging.
This picture was a simulation of the chance in analog creation. The reproducible and non-degrading advantages of digital also have their disadvantages when creating a work. So rather than reproduce an image I had inside myself, what I tried to do here was put an emphasis on unforeseeable shapes and colors, as well as dirt, that occurred by chance as I worked.
I wanted to create a picture that after time would evoke a Wabi and Sabi atmosphere of something made long ago, such as a temple, shrine, or scroll. |
