| About the work |
|
| Dreams arise from the theatre of memory: they are filled with signs that might be portents of things to come, the consequences of past deeds coming to light and enacted as symbolic shadow plays in the night. In this image, I attempt to illustrate not only the narrative of one recurring dream of mine, but also to give solidity to the mysterious space where dreams take place. As an omen, its meaning still eludes me: is it something external to me, something to dread, some event that might trouble me in the future, or is it a sign of some force within me, demanding release and attention? |

| On receiving the award |

| I am very proud to have received an Honorable Mention in the 10th DCA. I have been involved with the Toray DCA for four years, having submitted work since 2002. In my first attempt, I was honored with the Maywa Denki Award, and in 2003 and 2004 my work was selected for Maywa Denki's "8 Genres" online exhibition. The selection of my work this year for an Honorable Mention confirms for me that the annual DCA plays a very important role in motivating me to excel in my digital art practice. I look forward to the opportunity to create new work to submit in the next DCA. |
