I'm pleased that a person like me, who has no experience and is still developing as an artist, could win the Honorable Mention Award. I entered this contest by chance after my professor encouraged me to. The fact that a 20-year-old student could win a prize is totally amazing to me and it comes as a big pleasure. I will keep studying to develop myself as an artist and I'll aim for the top spot in future competitions. This I will do with humility.
This work started with quite a vague concept; I just placed an emphasis mainly on drawing by hand and simplicity. Gradually, I had a concrete concept to draw the inner world of a human being. On the other hand, I admit that the simplicity in my work gives it a feeling of lonesomeness.
I worked hard on this project, while struggling to keep up with my schoolwork. Still, it made me realize that drawing pictures is fun. It brings me a great deal of pleasure. |
