Entries this year were more varied than ever before. The Grand Prize-winning work, "Under the moon" recreated paintings of the era of the European Romanticist in the modern digital world. Among the three Excellence Award winners, "The AREA WAR-balcony logic" was created by forming a plan as a method of composite photo works. The distorted faces on ordinary T-shirts and the variations in the work impressed me a great deal. "Airform" displayed a sense of space in Japanese and other Oriental art, combined with the look of an Indian ink painting, in spite of looking-at first glance-like something from the common digital world. This work was unique in comparison to more common digital expressions. "FORBIDDEN FRUIT" expressed myths and tales in European tradition with a methodology called Allegory. The work depicted an apple and a snake in their own CG world, but not in a traditional pictorial manner. This approach showed a new direction among DCA contestants. |
