The 1st DCA interview is with Professor Yoichiro Kawaguchi, the current Chairman of the Screening Committee, who has been judging artwork since the DCA began in 1996. The interview took several hours from his busy schedule. He talked with enthusiasm and humor about his enjoyable childhood surrounded by nature, the hell of graduate school, and the period leading up to his debut on the international scene.

CG Artist, Professor of The University of Tokyo
Born in Tanegashima Island, 1952, Mr. Kawaguchi graduated from the Kyushu Institute of Design, and finished his studies at the Tokyo University of Education. He gained international prestige as a CG artist, and is ranked number one with the most prizes won worldwide. He was a Venicia Vienna '95 Japan Pavilion Artist Representative. In Japan, Mr. Kawaguchi has won numerous prizes, including Gold Medal Prize of Tokyo Techno Forum, and Loreau Grand Prize, among others. |
