Overall Evaluation
The number of entrants to DCA Junior increased four times, and the entries have enhanced their quality significantly. In thinking of the future, since the world of digital arts is made richer by elementary and junior high school students creating new and creative things, I am extremely happy that there were so many interesting works entered this year.
Especially the Grand Prize winner, Masaya Hidaka's future work is not-to-be missed one. Masaya's sprit is little bit different from others! A highly expected artist.
Review of Award-winning Works
¡Grand Prize
With in the many works that were entered, the Grand Prize winner is nine years old Masaya Hidaka. His work was one of the most powerful; the strength of the colors and shapes outclassed its rivals by far. Rather than capturing in a true to nature manner, the work emits the likes of energy or passion, and displays quite a unique expression ability in regard to the various components such as image composition, distorted space, people, and plants - an undisputed Grand Prize winner with its unrivaled powerful sense of color and power.

¡Excellence Award
"Goseiseibutu [Kimera]" (Rio)
Although the idea of the title "Goseiseibutu (synthesized creature) Kimera" is in itself fantastic, the use of unique and exotic southern-island-style colors is exceptional, and the image composition ability is also present. Quite a rich and intense sense of color in addition to the mask like objects and monster shaped deformation are also interesting. The formidableness of expressing an extremely dramatic future society as modernized as this is overwhelmingly great.

"A ball in a dream" (KOTONE)
Nine years old KOTONE's work is comically and joyfully drawn with extremely at-home, happy, and comedy like world. For a girl just in her early elementary school, the work is very beautifully and skillfully organized. The image layout has a rhythmic sense and is very well done, and the individual characters display unique facial expressions that are extremely good.

"Shinkai" (Chisa Sugimoto)
For a 14 year old lady, the work is extremely mature. Aztecs' mask like mysteriousness is introduced into a world filled with innocuous rocks; the rich feeling it gives off despite of being a monotone work is good.

"Two Faces" (Ayaape)
I think the predominant feature for this person is in the facial expression of the face in deformation. Despite of her being only 13 years old, I think the artist has mastered, in a way, cubism like four dimensional style, and has skillfully expressed Picasso like deformation. This work stood out as rare among this year's entries, where there were only few deformation works as this one, and the paining like finish has its perfection - it's of very high quality.

"chilly---------." (taka)
3D CG is used for this work, and the characters have extremely comical finishing touch. I think that this loveable cuteness led to the high score. It's good that the work places emphasis on colors, has steadiness in colors and layout, and skillfully encapsulates a humorous cuteness.
