DCA JUNIOR Interview
In this section, we interview the past DCA JUNIOR winners to hear about their process of artistic creation and techniques.
The fifth interviewee is Mr. Hiromitsu Miyata, who won the Grand Prize of DCA JUNIOR 2007 with his artwork titled "A tree of various honey and a tree of the jelly, the country of the beetle."
Hiromitsu also won the Grand Prize of DCA 2005 JUNIOR, and he is the younger brother of Yoshimitsu, who won last year's Grand Prize. Hiromitsu is the youngest of four brothers. Although the brothers sometimes get into fights, they are very close. We interviewed Hiromitsu, who is stimulated everyday by his older brothers in various aspects.

INTERVIEW
Please introduce yourself.
I'm Hiromitsu Miyata. I'm a third grader.

When was the first time you used a computer?
When I was about four.

How did you learn to use a computer?
My mother taught me.

What made you decide to draw pictures on a computer?
My brothers were drawing pictures on a computer to enter their drawings to the DCA contest, so I decided to try it too.

Do you like to draw?
Yes, I like to draw.

What do you like to draw?
I like to draw stag beetles.

I see that you like insects. What do you like about them?
I like the jaw of Stag beetles and how Unicorn beetles fly.

Please tell us the software you used to draw the artwork you entered for the DCA contest.
I used ADOBE Photoshop Element.

In what steps do you create your artworks?
I first draw a picture on a piece of paper, scan the picture into my computer, then I color it in.

How long does it take to draw your pictures?
About 10, 15 minutes.

Where in your award-winning work did you focus you efforts?
The wings of the flying Caucasus beetles were difficult.

Your drawings always have very interesting titles.
How do you come up with them?

It comes to ‚y mind as I draw.

Lastly, what are your dreams for the future?
I want to collect fossils and insects.

Drawing while closely studying the insects you love seems to be the magic ingredient for your artworks.
