DCA is a "Computer Picture" contest.
The grand prize is 1,000,000 yen!
The Toray Digital Creation Awards (DCA) is a Computer Picture (picture painted using a computer) contest that Toray Industries, Inc. has run on the Internet since 1996, with the objective of supporting artistic and cultural activities and promoting digital artists.
We have many numbers of applicants for DCA every year, with DCA2007 receiving 482 entries from 8 countries around the world.
In this day and age when so many people, from children to adults, have easy access for creating CG, we are looking forward to experiencing the joy and possibilities captured in the creations produced by a large number of applicants in this field of Computer Pictures, which represents a challenge that can be taken up by anyone at all.

History of DCA |
 |
1996
The Toray Industries, Inc. website is launched, and at the same time Toray launches the still image CG contest on the Internet.
Screening and selection carried out by the Screening Committee Chairman, Katsuhiro Yamaguchi (at the time: Professor at Kobe Design University/Professor Emeritus at University of Tsukuba), Screening Committee member, Yoichiro Kawaguchi (at the time: CG Artist/Assistant Professor at University of Tsukuba), and three other members of the Screening Committee.
Separate from the annual contest, Toray opens the Toray Art Gallery as a venue for CG contributions, providing an area for digital creators to exhibit their works.
2001
An exhibition is held at the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography, with a collection of approximately 40 works, including the grand prize winners from the 1st through 5th contests and the works of Screening Committee Chairman Professor Yamaguchi and Professor Kawaguchi.
A new Junior Section is created for those 15 years old and younger. Also, starting this year, a theme for works to be submitted is established.
2002
Professor Kawaguchi becomes screening committee chairman. Maywa Denki President Nobumichi Tosa, a member of Yoshimoto Kogyo Co., Ltd., becomes a new Screening Committee member.
2003
Against a backdrop of a new era with many households now owning personal computers and almost anyone being able to draw pictures using a computer, the DCA website is revamped into a more familiar design.
2005
The up-and-coming artist Saori Kanda replaces Yojiro Shirakawa as a contest judge. "Computer Picture" is positioned as the subject of the contest, in place of still picture CG, and the Junior Section becomes "DCA JUNIOR," while a large-scale revamping of the website is carried out.
