Tamara's set of works was from the "happiness/easiness/music" theme category, receiving high acclaim for her depiction which overflowed with a sense of rhythm as if you could hear the music rendered therein, while employing similar imagery in each of the works.
We asked Tamara, who lives in Russia, to tell us the secret behind the creation of her work.

Award-Winning Work

[Comments on the award-winning work]
I have presented a series from two works on a theme.
When did you start using computer graphics to create art?
I started to make artworks with computer in 2002.

What first led to you to use computer graphics?
I saw pictures from japanese contest IIAPC (Internet International Art/Photo Contest). I like to use computer capabilities in processing digital graphic. So I decided to send one of my first artwork on 7 IIAPC and I won the grand prix! That was the beginning.

What motivated you to submit a work to the DCA?
Since 2003 I keep an eye on TORAY DCA contest. In 2004 I participated in contest first time and in 2005 I won. I think that all computer artists may enter the DCA contest because the winner's artworks demonstrate capabilities and progress of this young kind of art.

What aspects of your winning work did you pay particular attention to, and what aspects did you find particularly difficult?
About my winning work. I wanted to create something new that nobody do before me, and I paid particular attention to idea and implemention of this. It was difficult to make logical and harmonic artwok with precise implemention of given theme from one side, and - bright and attractive work from another side. After that I defined for me idea and sense of my work, the implemention was simply technical issue.

The Screening Committee said that your work has a splendid expression of a sense of musical rhythm and the painting aspect displayed exquisite taste. Do you have a theme about "music" for your artwork?
The theme of music and dance is one of my favorite. I have several works dedicated to dances because to imagine dance than music is more simple. For this work I used staves with Shopen waltz and I tried to teach my humankeys to dance easiliy and happily.

Has anything changed since winning the DCA? (Have your friends told you that they've seen your work or have you become even more enthusiastic about your work?)
After winning the DCA contest I get more attention from unfamiliar people including some invitation in art galleries and at all it giving power for making artworks.

What types of art do you want to create in the future?
I choose computer graphic for implemention of my ideas and I try to do my best in this direction.

Do you have any message for those intending to submit works for next DCA ?
Don't afraid to participate in DCA contest, follow your goal and withstand the misfortune! Even if you do not achieve victory, the artworks of other participants can teach you something new in your work!
Especially I want to say to foreign participants of TORAY DCA that my example demonstrates that in Japan foreigners take attention, respect and impartiality. Enter the contest and your work will be appreciated for your ideas and realization!

Thank you very much.
